Hanhyewon, Hanwha Construction, and GK Wind Sign MOU for Joint Wind Power Project Development
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the joint development of a wind power project with Hanwha Construction and GK Wind at the Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul on the 14th.
Through this MOU, the companies have agreed to jointly develop a wind power complex with a total installed capacity of 42 MW in the Yeongcheon area of Gyeongbuk Province.
KHNP will handle project management and REC purchasing, Hanwha Construction will be responsible for equipment procurement and construction, and GK Wind will manage permits acquisition and site securing.
In addition to onshore wind power, KHNP is promoting wind power projects with a total installed capacity exceeding approximately 1 GW, including offshore wind power in Yeongdeok and Anmado. Based on this MOU, it is expected to contribute to the revitalization of renewable energy supply in the Gyeongbuk region.

Lee In-sik, Head of KHNP's Green Energy Division, stated, "It is very encouraging to partner with Hanwha Construction and GK Wind for the joint development of wind power projects," adding, "KHNP will strive to expand wind power projects further to achieve a target of 1.7 GW of wind power capacity by 2030 and promote the spread of renewable energy."
