[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Yoseop] Ulsan City announced on the 14th that it has finalized the plan for the ‘2020 Overseas Famous Exhibition and Fair Participation Support Project’ in collaboration with the Ulsan Headquarters of the Korea International Trade Association and is recruiting participating companies.

The Overseas Famous Exhibition and Fair Participation Support Project has been promoted since 2005 to support local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in pioneering overseas markets and expanding exports.

This year’s ‘Ulsan Pavilion Group Participation’ exhibitions and fairs were evenly allocated by industry groups such as marine plants, industrial machinery, shipbuilding equipment, household goods and consumer products, automotive parts, and fine chemicals, following a demand survey for desired exhibitions conducted last October among local SMEs. In particular, the project is being promoted in line with the government’s ‘New Southern Policy’ to strengthen support for entry into ASEAN countries.

The exhibitions and fairs for group participation include a total of six events: starting with the ‘Houston Offshore Technology Conference’ held in Houston, USA in May; the ‘Ho Chi Minh Machinery Fair’ in Vietnam in July; the ‘Hamburg Shipbuilding Equipment Exhibition’ in Germany in September; the ‘Jakarta International Premium Consumer Goods Exhibition’ in Indonesia in November; the ‘Shanghai Auto Parts Exhibition’ in China in December; and the ‘China International Coatings Exhibition’ held in Guangzhou.

For each exhibition, about 6 to 8 promising companies will participate, and all related costs such as booth rental and setup fees, transportation costs for exhibits, interpretation fees, and one-way airfare will be supported.

Applications for participation will be accepted up to five months before the exhibition date, and final selections will be made.

Ulsan City and the Trade Association will also simultaneously implement individual participation support to meet the demands of companies with different exhibition preferences, product categories, industry groups, and target countries.

The scale of support for the individual participation project is about 30 companies in total, and recruitment of participating companies will be accepted throughout the year until the budget is exhausted.

Selected companies will be supported up to an annual limit of 10 million KRW for booth rental, exhibit transportation, interpretation fees, etc., with support provided up to three times including both group and individual participation.

Companies wishing to participate can submit their application forms through the Ulsan City Trade Support System website.
