[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju University (President Kim Hyuk-jong) announced on the 13th that it has been selected as an ‘Education Internationalization Competency Certified University’ by the Ministry of Education.
As a result, it will gain momentum in participating in education with advanced overseas universities, expanding sisterhood ties, international exchange activities, and attracting excellent foreign students.
The ‘Education Internationalization Competency Certification System’ led by the Ministry of Education is a project that selects universities with excellent internationalization capabilities to promote the expansion of outstanding foreign students. It is a system that has been expanded and reorganized from the existing ‘Foreign Student Certification System.’
To receive this certification, universities must meet the Ministry of Education’s standards, including mandatory indicators such as illegal stay rate and dropout rate, as well as core condition indicators such as foreign student tuition burden rate, medical insurance subscription rate, foreign student language proficiency, and provision rate of dormitories for freshmen.
Gwangju University was finally selected by fulfilling the mandatory indicators, core condition indicators, and internationalization support indicators required for certification.
The certification period is from next month until February 2022.
During the certification period, Gwangju University will receive simplified visa issuance procedures and priority in the Ministry of Education’s internationalization-related policies and projects.
