Lee Hyung-seok Preliminary Candidate "Gwangju Small Business Owners Need Public-Private Joint Policy Platform"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Lee Hyung-seok, a preliminary candidate of the Democratic Party for the National Assembly election in Buk-gu (Eul), Gwangju Metropolitan City, stated, "We need to establish a public-private joint policy platform for small business owners in Gwangju to promote the revitalization of market commercial districts."
Candidate Lee said, "Whenever major issues arise, such as the COVID-19 pandemic that swept the world, the local economy takes a direct hit and commercial districts inevitably freeze up," adding, "To solve these problems, it is necessary to develop plans that link traditional markets and areas dense with small shops to local tourism products so that they can lead to actual sales."
He continued, "For this, a cooperative network system between the Small Enterprise and Market Service and local government small business support organizations needs to be swiftly transformed from desk-based administration to a field-centered approach," and asserted, "Based on this, we should develop branding for traditional market products and stores and implement story strategies centered on merchants. At the same time, we must establish a 'public-private joint policy platform for solving small business owner issues in Gwangju,' involving the Gwangju Merchants Association and related expert groups, to focus policy and budget support."
