Hong Kong Likely to Extend Primary and Secondary School Closure Order Until Mid-Next Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] The Hong Kong government is expected to extend school closures until the 16th of next month to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
On the 13th (local time), the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported, citing sources, that the Hong Kong government is likely to announce an extension of the school closure period for kindergartens, elementary, and secondary schools. Originally, Hong Kong had announced school closures until the 2nd of next month.
For Hong Kong civil servants, the work-from-home period has also been extended by at least one week. According to this, the remote work period will be extended until the 23rd of this month.
Initially, the Hong Kong government ordered civil servants to work from home from the 29th of last month until the 2nd of next month. However, the remote work schedule has been extended to the 16th.
The newspaper expects the Hong Kong government’s official announcement to be made on the 14th.
In addition to civil servants, similar recommendations have been issued to the private sector. This is a measure to reduce social activities as much as possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
