Busan City Supports Social Entry Activity Expenses for Unemployed Youth
Application Open for 'Cheongnyeon Didimdol Card' Program
Total Support of 3 Million KRW Over 6 Months
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Yoseop] Busan City has decided to ease the economic burden on unemployed youth.
Busan City announced on the 13th that it will begin accepting applications for the ‘2020 Youth Social Entry Activity Support (Youth Didimdol Card)’ program starting from the 14th.
The ‘Youth Social Entry Activity Support’ program selects 2,100 unemployed youths aged 18 to 34 residing in Busan, who have graduated or dropped out and have been unemployed for more than two years (with a standard median income of 150% or less), and supports them with a total of 3 million KRW (up to 500,000 KRW per month) for six months from May to October.
The support can be used not only for direct job-seeking activities such as obtaining certifications, exam fees, academy fees, and purchasing study materials, but also for indirect job-seeking expenses such as food, transportation, and stationery purchases. Payments are restricted for certain industries unrelated to job seeking, such as bars, liquor stores, jewelry, and pet-related businesses.
Youths who have graduated or dropped out within two years and are unemployed, and thus cannot apply for this program, can apply for the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s ‘Youth Job-Seeking Activity Support Fund’ program, which provides 500,000 KRW per month for six months.
Youths in Busan who wish to participate in the program can apply through the online application website by midnight on the 6th of next month. After the application period ends, a screening process based on income level and unemployment duration will be conducted, and the announcement of selected candidates and preliminary training will take place in mid-April.
