'Urgent' Xi Jinping Deploys Additional 2,600 Military Medical Personnel to Wuhan
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Park Sun-mi] As the number of confirmed cases and deaths surged in Hubei Province, China, the epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak, Chinese President Xi Jinping urgently dispatched an additional 2,600 military medical personnel to the Wuhan area in Hubei Province.
On the 13th, China's state-run Xinhua News Agency reported that President Xi approved the urgent deployment of 2,600 military medical personnel to the Wuhan area to respond to the spread of COVID-19.
The dispatched military medical personnel include members from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Rocket Force, Strategic Support Force, and the Armed Police Force. Initially, 1,400 personnel are scheduled to arrive in Wuhan on the 13th to begin treating COVID-19 patients.
The military medical personnel urgently dispatched to Wuhan are assigned to Taikang Tongji Hospital, which has 860 beds, and the Guanggu Branch of Hubei Provincial Fuyu Health Center, which has 700 beds, where they are tasked with treating COVID-19 patients.
