Gwangju Nam-gu Supports 'Female Adolescent Sanitary Products' up to Age 18
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) announced on the 13th that it will implement a sanitary pad voucher support project for female adolescents in vulnerable groups within the district to enable them to conveniently purchase sanitary products and create an environment where they can grow up healthier.
The support targets female adolescents who receive livelihood, medical, housing, or education benefits under the National Basic Livelihood Security Act or belong to the legally designated lower-income class, born between January 1, 2002, and December 31, 2009, corresponding to ages 11 to 18.
Each individual will receive 11,000 KRW per month, totaling 132,000 KRW annually, with the support period lasting until the end of the year they turn 18.
Eligible female adolescents can freely use the voucher (National Happiness Card) at affiliated online and offline stores after issuance.
Applications for youth health and hygiene product support are accepted year-round and can be submitted by the applicant, their dependents, or relatives.
Applications can be made by visiting the local administrative welfare center of the jurisdiction or through the Bokjiro online website. When visiting the administrative welfare center, an ID card must be presented.
Once applied, support continues until the end of the year the applicant turns 18 without the need for reapplication.
Voucher affiliated stores can be checked on the National Happiness Card website and the electronic voucher website.

A Nam-gu official stated, “The health and hygiene product support project for female adolescents aims to guarantee the human rights, health rights, and happiness rights of our children who are in welfare blind spots,” adding, “We will actively support female adolescents to grow up healthily through the realization of universal welfare.”
