KTH Achieves Record High Performance Since Inception... Key Contributor is Customer-Customized 'T-Commerce'
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] KTH announced on the 12th that it has achieved the highest sales and operating profit since its establishment.
KTH disclosed through a public announcement that its 2019 sales reached 322.3 billion KRW, operating profit was 10.7 billion KRW, and net profit was 1.8 billion KRW. Sales and operating profit increased by 15.6% and 92.8%, respectively, compared to the previous year.
Commerce business sales recorded the largest scale at 182.9 billion KRW, up 27.8% from the previous year. Product sales increased thanks to strengthened channel competitiveness and securing a product portfolio. The company has completed building a next-generation system that supports data-driven decision-making and is also making efforts to diversify its business, including mobile V-commerce.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) business sales increased by 18.9% year-on-year to 78.6 billion KRW. The growth of the ICT business was driven by the expansion of 5G-related businesses within the group and an increase in new projects outside the group. In particular, the business based on the artificial intelligence (AI) big data solution 'Daisy TA' grew more than threefold compared to the previous year, mainly in the financial and commerce sectors.

On the other hand, content business sales amounted to 60.8 billion KRW, down 12.7% from the previous year. This was due to a decrease in sales from the main movie lineup. The company plans to secure efficiency in distribution investment through expanding business partnerships in the future. It will foster non-film genres such as animation and series to keep pace with the growing demand for over-the-top (OTT) services.
