Meritz Securities Supports Low-Income and Marginalized Groups through 'Chamsarang Volunteer Group'
[Asia Economy Reporter Ji-hwan Park] Meritz Securities is actively engaged in sharing activities to reflect on and practice the meaning of love. To sustain these sharing efforts, the voluntary volunteer group 'Meritz Chamsarang Volunteer Group' was launched in 2007, and they consistently carry out various themed volunteer activities and donations once a month.
The Chamsarang Volunteer Group continuously discovers ways to provide practical help to marginalized neighbors and conducts various themed volunteer activities. They hold monthly events such as birthday parties for the elderly, free meal support activities, kimchi-making and sharing, and delivering briquettes of love.
They visit the Salvation Army Duri Home, a facility for single mothers, once every quarter to provide baby care, and through the Korean Red Cross Guro Volunteer Center, they share warmth with marginalized groups by making bread of love.
As part of improving underdeveloped local environments, mural painting volunteer activities are held annually. During holidays such as Seollal and Chuseok, they serve festive meals to elderly people living alone in nearby areas and share warm moments with them, even if briefly.
Since 2008, they have also held the 'Beautiful Saturday' event every summer in collaboration with the Beautiful Store Foundation. Employees voluntarily donate items, and on the day of the event, executives and staff participate as honorary one-day sales clerks, donating all proceeds earned that day.
The accumulated donations collected through this have reached 446.08 million KRW. So far, a total of 196 volunteer activities have been carried out.
Kim Chang-sik, team leader of the Payment Operations Team and general secretary of the Meritz Chamsarang Volunteer Group, said, "I feel happiness and fulfillment when I meet neighbors and share love through volunteer activities," adding, "I feel proud that true communication between volunteers and neighbors is achieved through love-sharing activities."
