Elementary Student Who Killed Classmate Ordered to 'Facility Custody'
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jeong] An elementary school student who killed a peer with a weapon was given a 'facility placement' disposition by the court.
The Uijeongbu District Court Juvenile Division announced on the 12th that it had issued a 'facility placement' disposition to A, who is accused of killing a classmate, on the 7th.
Earlier, A was arrested on charges of stabbing and killing her classmate friend B multiple times with a weapon on December 26 of last year and was sent to the Uijeongbu District Court Juvenile Division.
A is a 'chokbeopsonyeon' (juvenile offender not subject to criminal punishment) aged between 10 and under 14, so the type of disposition was not disclosed. Juveniles sent to the court's juvenile division receive protective dispositions numbered 1 to 10.
Facility placement corresponds to numbers 6 and 7 among these. Both dispositions have a custody period of six months, which can be extended by another six months at the court's discretion. Sending to a juvenile training center corresponds to numbers 8 to 10.

The trial for A was originally scheduled for the 22nd of last month. However, the court postponed the trial to the 7th, judging that A was psychologically unstable and needed psychiatric counseling. If A's side does not appeal the disposition result by the 14th, it will be finalized as is.
