Gimhae City to Distribute 461 Eco-Friendly Vehicles to the Private Sector This Year
Priority Support for Vulnerable Groups, Totaling 8.215 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 12th that it will promote an eco-friendly vehicle private supply project as part of the 'Making Gimhae Safe from Fine Dust' initiative.
This year, the private supply volume is 461 units, and including 19 units for official use, the total eco-friendly vehicle supply volume reaches 480 units. This is 150% more than last year's 192 units.
Breaking down the total supply volume, electric passenger cars are the most at 350 units, followed by 100 hydrogen electric vehicles, 20 electric two-wheelers, and 10 electric cargo vehicles. Support amounts are up to 14.2 million KRW for electric passenger cars, up to 24 million KRW for electric cargo vehicles, up to 2.1 million KRW for electric two-wheelers, and 33.1 million KRW for hydrogen electric vehicles. The total budget for private supply this year is 8.215 billion KRW.
Priority support up to 20% of this year's allocated volume will be given to vulnerable groups (persons with disabilities, basic livelihood security recipients, veterans with disabilities, independence activists), families with multiple children (three or more children under 18), first-time vehicle purchasers, and buyers of vehicles with high fine dust reduction effects. Eligible applicants are citizens aged 18 or older who have continuously resided in Gimhae City since before January 1, as well as businesses, corporations, and public institutions registered in Gimhae City. Note that subsidies will not be provided if the vehicle registration address is not in Gimhae City.
Applications can be made by consulting with the car dealership (agency) where you wish to purchase, then signing the purchase contract and filling out the support application form. The completed documents are submitted by the dealership through the Low Emission Vehicle Purchase Subsidy Support System. For more details, please refer to the notice board on the Gimhae City Hall website.
The city is also actively promoting the construction of public charging infrastructure to alleviate inconveniences in operating eco-friendly vehicles. Currently, there are 26 public electric vehicle charging stations, and 11 more were selected last year by the Ministry of Environment and Korea Electric Power Corporation and are under installation. Once completed, the number will increase to 37. This year, more than 10 additional stations are planned, and a hydrogen charging station is scheduled to operate in the second half of this year in collaboration with Korea Gas Corporation.
