Strengthening Resident Awareness through Mobile Waste Separation Classes and Joint Housing Manager Training

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Noh Hyun-song) is implementing a 'Separate Collection Day System for Waste Vinyl and Colorless Transparent Waste PET Bottles' to reduce household waste and promote recycling.

This project was initiated to improve the previous situation where waste vinyl, colorless transparent waste PET bottles, and other recyclables were mixed and disposed of regardless of color, requiring a sorting process and causing many difficulties in recycling.

The district will officially implement the 'Separate Collection Day System for Waste Vinyl and Colorless Transparent Waste PET Bottles' starting from the 27th.

For detached houses or commercial buildings, instead of mixed disposal, waste vinyl and colorless transparent waste PET bottles must be disposed of separately on Thursdays (for Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday collection areas) and Fridays (for Monday, Wednesday, Friday collection areas).

Other recyclables, including colored waste PET bottles, should be disposed of on Sundays and Tuesdays in the Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday collection areas, and on Mondays and Wednesdays in the Monday, Wednesday, Friday collection areas.

For apartment complexes, recyclables including colored PET bottles can be disposed of as usual, but colorless transparent waste PET bottles must be placed in designated collection bins separately.

To ensure the success of this project, continuous resident education such as visiting separate collection classes and training for apartment complex managers will be strengthened.

Additionally, various measures such as producing and distributing promotional materials will be implemented to help residents develop proper recycling habits and minimize environmental pollution caused by waste vinyl and waste PET bottles.

District Mayor Noh Hyun-song stated, “In the face of worsening environmental pollution caused by waste vinyl and waste PET bottles, we have introduced a separate disposal method. The district and residents will actively work together to protect the environment and recycle resources.”
