Cancellation of Entrance Ceremony and Graduation Ceremony
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Chonnam National University has decided to postpone the start of the semester by two weeks to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection. The degree conferment ceremony and entrance ceremony will also be canceled.
Chonnam National University announced on the 12th that at the temporary academic affairs meeting held on the 11th, the start of the first semester of the 2020 academic year will be postponed by two weeks to March 16 to prevent the spread of the coronavirus infection.
The end of the semester will be postponed by only one week, and the insufficient class hours will be replaced with remote classes, supplementary classes, and assignments.
For cases where postponing the start of the semester is impossible due to schedules, such as the College of Nursing with an already confirmed annual hospital practicum schedule and the Graduate School of Business Administration connected to foreign university dual degree programs (KEPCO E³ MBA program), the first two weeks of lectures will be conducted through remote lectures and on-site education.
The degree conferment ceremony scheduled for the 26th will allow doctoral graduates to participate in the ceremony in August, and during the February graduation period, bachelor’s gowns rental and photo zones will be set up to ease regrets.
Additionally, the entrance ceremony scheduled for the 28th will be canceled.
Course registration will proceed as planned from the 13th to the 20th, and the course registration correction period will be postponed to March 16 to 20.
Academic guidance measures will also be additionally prepared for freshmen who are unfamiliar with university life.
