"Need Anything?"... Jungnang-gu Cares for the Hearts of Residents in COVID Self-Quarantine
Jungnang-gu Implements 1:1 Matching for Self-Quarantine Household Monitoring Officers... Twice-Daily Phone Consultations and Encouragement Program Receives Strong Community Support
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] “It must be very uncomfortable and frustrating. How are you feeling? Have you eaten? Is there anything you need?”
Park, an employee at Jungnang-gu Public Health Center, makes phone calls to residents under self-quarantine every day to check on their well-being and carefully inquire if they need anything or if they are experiencing any physical discomfort.
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is conducting various support activities such as one-on-one monitoring, frequent visits, and provision of supplies for 20 residents and 15 households currently under self-quarantine due to the novel coronavirus.
The district classifies those who have been in contact with confirmed COVID-19 patients and tested negative, or those who have visited China within 14 days and developed major symptoms (such as cough, respiratory symptoms, or fever) and tested negative, as self-quarantine subjects for 14 days. During this period, their health status, including symptom development, is monitored, and necessary supplies such as rice, water, toothpaste, and gim (seaweed) are identified and promptly delivered to minimize inconvenience in daily life.
Health management in Jungnang-gu continues even after the self-quarantine period ends. On the third day after quarantine release, public health center staff conduct monitoring to check health status, and on the seventh day, a specialist calls directly to reassess their condition.
In particular, counseling staff at the Mind Health Counseling Center within the Jungnang-gu Mental Health Center located in Myeonmok-dong will be connected for psychological counseling to empathize with and comfort the anxiety, fear, and frustration experienced during the self-quarantine period, thereby also taking care of mental health.
Jungnang-gu Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi stated, “We deeply appreciate the cooperation of those under self-quarantine with the monitoring process. We will do our best to support not only necessary supplies but also mental health so that they can return to their daily lives stably.”
Jungnang-gu operates a 24-hour Jungnang-gu COVID Call Center (☎2094-0800) to provide answers to symptom-related inquiries and guidance on quarantine areas. Additionally, a separate screening clinic information booth is set up in front of the district office to ensure prompt guidance, leading efforts to minimize inconvenience related to the novel coronavirus for residents.
