The Parents' Association General Meeting is held at each school level by the end of March every year, and this year it is new that the meeting will be convened by the president of the parents' association. Following the enactment and promulgation of the ordinance on the establishment and operation of parents' associations in March last year, the operation of the parents' association as an autonomous organization is attracting attention, as from this year the existing parents' association president will convene the general meeting to elect the next parents' association officers.
To hold the Parents' Association General Meeting, a preparatory committee is formed to plan the general meeting, prepare amendments to the parents' association regulations (draft), and the 2020 parents' association operation plan (draft). In addition, a subcommittee of the parents' association officer election management committee is organized to prepare the general meeting independently.
Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education is supporting parents' association autonomy by creating seven card news items, a 5-minute video, and a 96-page manual booklet, which are distributed through the Office of Education’s website and parents' SNS channels.
In particular, the manual booklet titled ‘How to Participate in School as a Parent’ was developed with the participation of principals, vice principals, supervisors, parents, and parent consultants, providing guidance on the operation of the parents' association based on Q&A and best practices that meet the demands of the field.

Superintendent Jang Seok-woong said, “This year, we will focus on supporting the activation of parents' associations at individual schools,” and added, “I hope that the parents' association, as an autonomous organization, actively collects parents' opinions and proposes them to schools or the Office of Education, becoming a driving force for the development of education in Jeonnam.”
