Proactive COVID-19 Response Led by Yudeokyeol, Dongdaemun District Mayor
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yoo Deok-yeol, the mayor of Dongdaemun District Office, has taken proactive measures by continuously inspecting sites to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection.
On the 10th, Mayor Yoo and Dongdaemun district officials visited community centers and multi-use facilities where cultural classes were temporarily suspended to check the situation on site. They also visited the local community service centers to thoroughly verify whether civil service staff were wearing masks and to check the availability of hand sanitizers and masks.
Following this, Mayor Yoo visited Bapper, a facility providing free meals to elderly people living alone, homeless individuals, and vagrants during lunchtime, to inspect the facility and inform visitors about preventive measures.
In the afternoon, he visited traditional markets around Cheongnyangni and participated in disinfection efforts. Along with the disinfection, Mayor Yoo comforted and encouraged merchants who were worried about the decrease in visitors.
On the 7th, the district held a countermeasure meeting with local universities such as Kyung Hee University, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, and University of Seoul, where many foreign students are enrolled. Through the meeting, the district and universities agreed to establish an emergency contact system to share daily status updates by school.
