On the 10th, Jeong Gi-myeong, a preliminary candidate for Yeosu Eul from the Democratic Party of Korea, stated in a commentary, "After declaring he would not run in the general election, Kim Moo-sung suddenly claims he will run in Yeosu," adding, "Is the patriotic city of Yeosu so trivial? Can’t you hear the anger of Yeosu citizens who were at the center of the Candlelight Revolution? I hope you understand that the Liberty Korea Party no longer has any place to stand not only in Yeosu but in the entire Republic of Korea."
On the 9th, Joo Cheol-hyun, a preliminary candidate for Yeosu Gap from the Democratic Party, also said, "Kim’s 'running in Gwangju and Yeosu' remark is an insult to Yeosu citizens, and Yeosu will become a death zone, not a difficult district," adding, "We will judge Kim Moo-sung, a collaborator who ruined the country, with the great spirit of Yeosu citizens."
Cho Gye-won, a preliminary candidate for Yeosu Gap from the Democratic Party, said, "I think Kim underestimates Honam too much. At the very least, Honam public sentiment will throw ostrich eggs at the Korea Party, not just eggs," adding, "Being hit by an ostrich egg can be fatal. If he is prepared to come out anyway, then come to Yeosu and face me."
Independent preliminary candidate for Yeosu Gap, Lee Yong-ju, also released a press statement saying, "Kim should not distort Honam public sentiment with wordplay. If he is confident, come down to Yeosu immediately and have a proper showdown," emphasizing, "I will definitely win and prevent the entrenched forces from gaining any foothold in my hometown Yeosu."
