[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Samsung Electronics will unveil its 2020 QLED 8K signage for the first time at ‘ISE 2020,’ Europe’s largest commercial display exhibition. Samsung Electronics also plans to expand the lineup of 'The Wall' featuring Micro LED technology and introduce the 'Samsung Flip2' starting from ISE 2020.
Samsung Electronics announced on the 10th that it will showcase the 2020 QLED 8K signage for the first time at ISE 2020, held from the 11th to the 14th (local time) in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The 2020 QLED 8K signage features ▲8K ultra-high-definition resolution ▲AI Quantum Processor ▲vivid color reproduction with 100% color volume ▲HDR10+ technology and up to 2,000 nits brightness to deliver the best image quality.
Notably, this product is the first 8K panel signage to have durability for 24-hour continuous use. Samsung Electronics plans to fully usher in the 8K display era in commercial markets such as airports and large shopping malls where high-quality video transmission is continuously required. It also includes a 4-PBP function that divides the screen into four parts to simultaneously play four different 4K contents. According to Samsung Electronics, this is convenient for use in security centers, control centers, and other places that require multiple high-definition videos simultaneously.
The 2020 QLED 8K signage supports a medical digital imaging and communications (DICOM) simulation mode and accurately displays medical digital images such as CT and MRI scans, making it useful in hospital laboratories and seminar rooms. This product comes in four sizes: 65, 75, 82, and 98 inches, and is scheduled for global release within the first half of this year.
Additionally, Samsung Electronics will expand the lineup of commercial 'The Wall' starting from ISE 2020. 'The Wall,' which applies Micro LED technology, is a next-generation display built on a modular basis, free from constraints on bezel, size, aspect ratio, and resolution. It especially introduces an ‘Infinity’ design without bezels, creating a seamless environment between the wall and the screen. Because of this, it is highly regarded as suitable for buildings, hotel lobbies, large conference rooms, and design studios.
At CES 2020, North America’s largest IT and home appliance exhibition held last month, Samsung Electronics received favorable reviews for the 219-inch and 292-inch models and expanded the lineup to include 437-inch and 583-inch models to offer customers a wider range of choices according to their usage environment and purpose. During ISE 2020, Samsung will begin full-scale order activities for the 2020 commercial 'The Wall' and start sales worldwide, beginning with Europe.
Moreover, Samsung Electronics will introduce the upgraded ‘Samsung Flip2’ in terms of functionality and design at ISE 2020. Samsung Flip is a digital flipchart equipped with a touch screen that applies industry-leading handwriting recognition technology, providing a writing experience similar to writing on real paper. The new product adds a memo layer on the screen, allowing users to write and erase freely, making idea sharing among users more convenient.
It can easily connect with IT devices such as laptops, PCs, and smartphones via USB, HDMI, NFC, and screen mirroring, and enables real-time sharing of meeting results via email and USB, creating a convenient meeting environment. Samsung Electronics has partnered with Cisco, a global leader in video conferencing solutions, and will release ‘Webex on Flip,’ which integrates Cisco’s online and video conferencing solution ‘Webex’ UX.

Webex on Flip offers collaboration features such as video and voice calls, Webex online meetings, and simultaneous annotation by meeting participants through Samsung Flip. Furthermore, it enables online video conferencing with all meeting rooms equipped with Cisco Webex via Samsung Flip, and real-time sharing of meeting outcomes. Samsung and Cisco will hold a joint media event at ISE 2020 to officially launch the sales of ‘Webex on Flip.’
