Over 800 Deaths from New Coronavirus in China... Confirmed Cases Near 37,000 (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-woo] The cumulative death toll from the novel coronavirus infection (Wuhan pneumonia) in China has surpassed 800, and the number of confirmed cases is expected to reach 37,000.
According to China Central Television (CCTV) on the 9th, Hubei Province announced that on the 8th alone, there were 2,147 new confirmed cases and 81 new deaths from the novel coronavirus. Among these, Wuhan, the outbreak epicenter, reported 1,379 new confirmed cases and 63 new deaths. The total cumulative confirmed cases in Hubei Province reached 27,100, with 780 deaths. There are 4,093 patients in critical condition and 1,154 in severe condition. According to the overall tally announced by the National Health Commission, the cumulative death toll from the novel coronavirus in China has exceeded 800, and the number of confirmed cases is expected to reach 37,000.

Earlier, the National Health Commission of China announced that as of midnight on the 8th, the total cumulative confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus across all 31 provinces in China stood at 34,546, with 722 deaths.
