Director Lee Gyu-hyung of 'Mimi and Cheolsu's Youth Sketch' Passes Away
Director Lee Gyu-hyung of the film Mimi and Cheolsu's Youth Sketch (1987) passed away on the 7th due to an illness. He was 63 years old.
A graduate of Hanyang University's Department of Theater and Film, the late director entered the film industry as a screenwriter for Making Love (1983). He made his directorial debut with Blue Sketch, starring Jo Min-su and Chun Ho-jin, and gained public recognition with Mimi and Cheolsu's Youth Sketch, featuring Park Joong-hoon and Kang Soo-yeon. He received the Best New Director award at the Grand Bell Awards for this film.
He continued to actively work, directing films such as Adults Don't Know (1988), Good Morning! President (1989), I'm Going to Do Something Surprising (1990), Dinosaur Teacher (1992), and the animation Hungry Best 5 (1995). He was also active as a writer, publishing several novels.
