Gyeongbuk Election Commission Files Criminal Complaint Against Polling Agency Head for Election Law Violation
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju-cheol In] The Gyeongbuk Provincial Election Poll Deliberation Committee announced on the 6th that it has reported Mr. A, the head of a certain polling agency, to the prosecution on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act.
Mr. A is suspected of selecting survey subjects by gender and region that do not represent all strata of the population during two rounds of polling conducted in the Gyeongbuk area earlier last month in relation to the 21st National Assembly election.
He is also accused of designing the survey to be biased toward specific candidates.

A representative of the Gyeongbuk Election Poll Deliberation Committee stated, "Illegal acts related to election polls that can significantly influence voters' intentions are serious crimes that severely undermine election order," adding, "We will strictly respond to illegal acts that damage the objectivity and reliability of election polls."
