[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Son Taeseok] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, will implement the 'Public Interest Direct Payment System' from this year to strengthen the public interest functions of agriculture.
The 'Public Interest Direct Payment System' is a key government agricultural policy promoted in accordance with the 'Public Interest Promotion Direct Payment Act' passed by the National Assembly in December last year. Direct payments are divided into the 'Basic Direct Payment System' and the 'Selective Direct Payment System' and are paid to farmers, corporations, and farmland registered with agricultural management information.
The main content of the 'Public Interest Direct Payment System' reform plan is to integrate the rice, field, and disadvantaged condition direct payments, which are not paid redundantly based on farmland, into the 'Basic Direct Payment System.' The 'Selective Direct Payment System' includes landscape conservation direct payments and eco-friendly direct payments.
