New Coronavirus Hits Real Estate... SH Corporation Delays February Housing Supply
[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH Corporation) will postpone all housing supply schedules planned for February to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (Wuhan pneumonia). Additionally, the corporation will intensively manage both domestic and foreign workers at construction sites.
On the 5th, SH Corporation stated, "We have decided to postpone these schedules as we believe early response is crucial to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, which is currently a social issue."
SH Corporation first postponed all housing supply schedules planned for February, including sales and rentals. The supply of 962 units of sale housing in Magok District Complex 9, originally scheduled for resident recruitment on the 5th of this month, was abruptly postponed on the afternoon of the 4th. The announcement and sales timing will be adjusted depending on the trend of the coronavirus, which is a cause for concern.
The resident recruitment schedules for national rental housing and long-term lease housing, planned for the 6th and 13th respectively, will also be postponed. The recruitment timing will be adjusted considering the future spread rate. This is to prevent the risk of virus transmission by avoiding large gatherings during on-site applications and consultations.

SH Corporation will also implement thorough preventive measures and intensive management for foreign workers working at large construction sites. In particular, Chinese workers will be closely monitored during entry and exit checks, and those sharing accommodations will receive special management. An emergency contact network will be activated to promptly notify the relevant health center in real time in case of fever, thereby strengthening monitoring.
