[Asia Economy reporters Wondara and Jeon Jinyoung] Lee Hae-chan, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, announced that additional measures against the novel coronavirus infection (Wuhan pneumonia) will be established for countries other than China.
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 5th, Lee said, "Since the 16th confirmed patient, who was newly confirmed yesterday, has a record of visiting Thailand, we decided to establish additional measures for regions other than China (at today's party-government-office meeting)."
He continued, "The Ministry of Education is scheduled to hold a countermeasure meeting today, and it is urgent to prepare measures for Chinese international students who will enter the country in large numbers in line with the university semester start," adding, "We need to prepare measures such as postponing the semester so that students and parents can feel reassured."
Lee also emphasized the need for economic damage countermeasures due to the novel coronavirus situation.
He said, "The economy seems to have become considerably difficult at present," and added, "Since China holds a significant portion of our economy, we must actively prepare for the prolonged situation." He further stated, "We decided to proactively respond to all expected possibilities and mobilize all available financial and administrative resources to prevent the spread."
