Samyang Foods' 'Carbo Buldak Bokkeummyeon' Surpasses 100 Million Units Sold Domestically
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] Samyang Foods announced on the 5th that the domestic cumulative sales of Carbo Buldak Bokkeummyeon have surpassed 100 million units within two years of its launch.
Over the past two years, it is as if every Korean citizen has eaten two packs of Carbo Buldak Bokkeummyeon, and if the length of all the noodles sold were combined, it would stretch around the Earth.
Carbo Buldak Bokkeummyeon was released as a limited edition in Korea in December 2017 to commemorate the sale of 1 billion Buldak brand units. It was developed based on consumers' recipes suggesting that mixing cream sauce with Buldak Bokkeummyeon tastes delicious, and it gained explosive popularity, selling 36 million units during the three-month limited sales period. Following continuous consumer requests, it was officially launched as a regular product in May 2018.
In particular, Carbo Buldak Bokkeummyeon recreates the taste of cream pasta suited to Korean tastes by adding smooth cream to the spiciness of Buldak, and reduces the spiciness to about half that of the original Buldak Bokkeummyeon, significantly expanding the consumer base of the Buldak brand.
To celebrate the milestone of 100 million cumulative sales and the 2nd anniversary of Carbo Buldak Bokkeummyeon, Samyang Foods will hold the 'Carre Attack' event three times until next month. The first Carre Attack event runs until the 14th on Samyang Foods and Buldak brand Instagram accounts, where through a draw, first prize winners (2 people) will receive a one-year supply of Carbo Buldak Bokkeummyeon (365 packs), second prize winners (10 people) will receive one box of Carbo Buldak Bokkeummyeon, and third prize winners (100 people) will receive a Carbo Buldak Bokkeummyeon set.
The second Carre Attack starts on the 5th, and the third will open in March. Detailed information about the event can be found on the Samyang Foods website and social networking services (SNS).
