Jung Sye-kyun: "Necessary Measures Will Be Taken Beyond Hubei Province... Recommendation to Postpone School Opening"
[Asia Economy Reporters Wondara and Jeon Jinyoung] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun announced that he will take active measures targeting regions other than Hubei Province in China, where limited entry restrictions have been imposed. The government plans to prepare measures for educational sites, such as postponing the start of the semester, while prioritizing support plans for export companies, the tourism industry, and small business owners.
At the first high-level meeting of the ruling party, government, and administration held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 5th to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, Prime Minister Chung said, "We will take necessary measures between the two countries while closely monitoring not only Hubei Province but also the surrounding areas." He added, "We will also prepare additional measures, such as recommending the postponement of the semester, to minimize confusion in educational sites preparing for the new semester."
Prime Minister Chung stated, "We will sufficiently prepare resources such as personnel, diagnostic reagents, and hospital beds in anticipation of an increase in patients and contacts," and added, "We will support testing if necessary, even for those who are not entrants from China." He further said, "We will prioritize preparing support plans for export companies, the tourism industry, and small business owners who are expected to suffer direct damage."
He also emphasized, "We will respond strictly to prevent the production and distribution of fake news." He said, "Many citizens become anxious and confused due to a single piece of fake news from someone, which also hinders the government's quarantine measures. I would like to ask the public and the political circles not to be misled by fake news and to refrain from spreading it."
