30s Sentenced to Prison for Another Drunk Driving Accident Despite Four Previous DUI Convictions

The Ulsan District Court Criminal Division 4 (Presiding Judge Kim Jeong-seok) announced on the 1st that A (36), who was indicted for violating the Road Traffic Act and the Special Act on the Treatment of Traffic Accidents, was sentenced to one year in prison.
The court stated, "Considering the fact that he has been punished four times for the same crime and committed the crime again during the recidivism period after release, a prison sentence is inevitable."
A is accused of driving a passenger car while intoxicated on a road in Ulsan around 10 p.m. on August 27 last year and colliding with another passenger car waiting at a traffic signal.
As a result of the accident, the victim driver sustained injuries requiring two weeks of medical treatment. At the time, A's blood alcohol concentration was 0.118%, indicating a state of severe intoxication.
