[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] The Chinese government has announced that it will deploy charter flights to bring back Wuhan residents who are abroad. This move is interpreted as a response to concerns that Wuhan residents abroad could spread the novel coronavirus infection (Wuhan pneumonia).
On the 31st, Hua Chunying, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated, "Residents of Hubei Province, especially those from Wuhan, who are abroad are in distress," and added, "The Chinese government has decided to send charter flights soon to directly bring these residents back."
Contrary to other countries' governments sending charter flights to bring their nationals staying in Wuhan and other areas back home, the Chinese government is announcing plans to bring residents who are abroad back to China.
