Credit Information Service Establishes Financial Big Data Center
Appointment of Center Director and Sim Hyunseop as Head of Business Strategy Division
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] The Korea Credit Information Services (KCIS) expanded and reorganized its existing Information Analysis Department and established a new Financial Big Data Center on the 31st. This move aims to strengthen its role as a core platform for financial data utilization in line with the revision of the Credit Information Act.
According to KCIS on the day, the newly established Financial Big Data Center consists of four teams?Data Strategy Team, Data Protection Evaluation Team, Big Data Technology & Analysis Team, and Data Convergence Support Team?with a total of 21 members. The inaugural center director is Shim Hyun-seop, head of KCIS’s Management Strategy Headquarters.
KCIS explained that Director Shim graduated from Seoul National University Law School, gained practical experience at Korea Credit Information (NICE Evaluation Information) and the Korea Federation of Banks, and served as head of KCIS’s Management Strategy Headquarters, possessing expertise in the utilization and strategy of financial data.
Dr. Lee Dong-ryeol, a big data analysis expert who worked at Samsung SDS Information Technology Research Institute and IBM Korea, was appointed as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and deputy center director.
