Dow Jones Index Reverses to Rise After Coronavirus Emergency Declaration

As of 3:25 PM on the 30th (local time), the Dow Jones Industrial Average in the New York stock market is up 21.31 points (0.07%) from the previous day, recording 28,755.76. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq indices are still declining but have mostly recovered their intraday losses and are approaching a stable range.
The Dow fell sharply by 244 points during the day after news broke that the first human-to-human transmission of the novel coronavirus occurred in the US, but then began to reduce its losses.
