Two New Confirmed Cases of Novel Coronavirus...First Domestic Secondary Infection (Update)

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced on the 30th that two additional cases of the novel coronavirus infection (Wuhan pneumonia) have been confirmed. Among them, one case is the first domestic 'human-to-human transmission' without traveling to China.
The fifth patient is a 32-year-old Korean male. This patient visited Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China for work and returned on the 24th. He has asthma and had occasional coughing without fever, so he was classified as an active surveillance subject. A test conducted during monitoring came back positive. This fifth patient was immediately isolated at Seoul Medical Center.
The sixth patient is a 56-year-old Korean male and represents the first secondary transmission case in Korea. This patient was a contact of the third patient, and tested positive during active surveillance. He was isolated at Seoul National University Hospital.

The KCDC stated, "An immediate response team is currently conducting an epidemiological investigation," and added, "Additional information will be disclosed as soon as the investigation is completed."
