Songpa-gu Achieves First Grade in '2019 Anti-Corruption Policy Evaluation'
Up Two Levels from Last Year... Highest Grade Among Seoul Districts in Public Institution Integrity Evaluation
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) achieved a Grade 1 rating in the '2019 Anti-Corruption Policy Evaluation' conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
The Anti-Corruption Policy Evaluation is an assessment by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission to raise the integrity level of the public sector by evaluating anti-corruption efforts autonomously pursued by public institutions at all levels. It has been conducted annually since 2002.
The 2019 Anti-Corruption Policy Evaluation by the Commission assessed the implementation performance of anti-corruption policies carried out by 270 public institutions from November 2018 to October of the previous year, evaluating seven unit tasks and classifying them into five grades.
Songpa-gu received a Grade 1 rating, rising two levels from 2018.
Specifically, Songpa-gu scored high in four areas: operation of anti-corruption systems, efforts to spread anti-corruption policies, achievements of anti-corruption policies, and efforts to eliminate corruption risks.
Accordingly, Songpa-gu explained that Mayor Park Seong-su has set 'Improvement of Integrity' as a pledge project for the 7th local government term and is promoting systematic and strong anti-corruption policy projects such as ▲a pledge rally for all employees to practice integrity ▲resident-participation integrity theater performance education ▲diagnosis of corruption risks for high-ranking officials ▲operation of an integrity mileage system.
Previously, Songpa-gu also received the highest grade among Seoul's autonomous districts in the '2019 Public Institution Integrity Evaluation' by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
At that time, Songpa-gu's overall integrity score was 8.49 points, receiving a Grade 2 rating. This was an increase of 0.39 points and one grade higher than the previous year. There were no Grade 1 autonomous districts in Seoul, and seven districts including Songpa received Grade 2 ratings.
Therefore, Songpa-gu emphasized that it has been recognized as a truly 'excellent district in integrity.'
