Gwangju Urban Railway Corporation Strengthens Hygiene Disinfection in Response to Coronavirus
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation (President Yoon Jin-bo) announced on the 29th that it has established a response plan to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection and has begun full-scale implementation.
The corporation conducted disinfection on all trains on the 21st, the day after the first confirmed case of the novel coronavirus in Korea was reported.
In addition, the monthly disinfection of trains, previously conducted once a month, has been increased to twice a month, focusing on frequent contact areas such as handrails and vertical poles with spray disinfection, ensuring thorough quarantine measures.
Disinfection of station facilities has also been strengthened. Escalator handrails and elevator buttons, which customers frequently touch, are disinfected regularly. Disposable tickets are sterilized daily, and hand sanitizers are provided at each station for passengers to use freely.
Customer-facing workers such as station staff are required to wear masks, and thorough disinfection of stations is carried out as part of multifaceted preventive measures.
Additionally, through destination information displays and promotional materials within stations, extensive publicity on how to report symptoms of novel coronavirus infection and preventive guidelines is being conducted to take the lead in preventing its spread.
