Comprehensive Plan Establishment for Environmental Patrol 'Seodaemun Dodgabi'
Concurrent 'General Patrols' for Hazardous Facilities and 'Monthly Planned Patrols' for Specific Areas... Enhancing Public Safety and Creating a Pleasant Urban Environment through Proactive Resolution of Resident Inconveniences
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) has established a comprehensive plan for the 2020 environmental patrol "Seodaemun Magnifier" and will actively work on improving safety accidents and factors causing inconvenience to residents starting next month.
The name "Seodaemun Magnifier" was given to reflect the project’s purpose of "thoroughly inspecting every corner of the area."
The district will first conduct "general patrols" at least once a week to check the condition of main roads, side streets, alleyway cleanliness, inconvenience in the use of various public facilities, factors harming urban aesthetics, and other resident inconveniences.
Patrols will be conducted both by vehicle and on foot, with greater emphasis on foot patrols, actively utilizing data received through complaint channels such as the Response Center and the National Newspaper Complaint System, as well as the Seodaemun-gu complaint map system during patrols.
"Planned patrols" will be conducted according to monthly themes set in advance, considering vulnerable elements and efficiency by period and field. In February, school routes and child protection zones will be focused on; in March, construction sites and their surroundings; in April, park facilities, Ansan (鞍山), and the foothills of Bukhansan; and in May, the condition of sewage facilities in preparation for wind and flood damage will be intensively inspected.
Following that, in June, river facilities and green belts; in July, public restrooms; in September, traffic facilities; in October, street environment; and in November, snow removal preparation status will be the main focus of inspections.
The "Environmental Patrol TF," composed of employees from the Audit Office, will take the lead, and if necessary, staff from the relevant departments and local community service centers will join for joint patrols.
Follow-up actions will proceed through processes such as improvement work by the relevant departments, feedback on results, and implementation status checks.
In particular, issues that can be corrected on-site will be addressed immediately, and policy ideas that arise during patrols will be reviewed by related departments to be reflected in actual projects.
Mayor Moon Seok-jin stated, "For a pleasant and safe city, we will actively engage in proactive preventive patrols of resident inconveniences and hazardous facilities through 'Seodaemun Magnifier,' field-centered patrols that communicate with residents, and planned patrols focusing on specific vulnerable elements."
