Naju-si, Popular 'dream Drone Camp' for Elementary and Middle School Students
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Han-hyuk] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 29th that the ‘Dream Drone Camp,’ operated during the vacation season for low-income elementary and middle school students in the area, is receiving great responses from participants.
The drone camp was established to stimulate the interest of children and adolescents in ‘drones’ (dron, unmanned aerial vehicles), a core technology of the 4th Industrial Revolution era, and to nurture future talents in line with the current trends.
The city is conducting basic drone introductory education (4 sessions) for 40 children from child welfare facilities Baekminwon and Geumseongwon from December 7 to 31 during this winter vacation period, supported by a 10 million KRW sponsorship from Korea Aviation Lighting Co., Ltd. (CEO Ahn Yong-jin), located in the Innovation Industrial Complex.
Through education held four times a week (3 hours a day) per session, both theoretical and practical training were conducted, covering drone principles, assembly and disassembly, and flight techniques.
The city plans to hold a summer vacation drone camp for 40 elementary and middle school students from local child welfare facilities such as regional children’s centers for one month in August.
