Gangnam-gu Secures 23.2 Billion KRW for Education Expenses This Year... Ranked 1st Among Seoul Autonomous Districts
Increase of 1.5 Billion KRW Compared to Last Year... Expansion of Makerspace and Activation of English Public Education, etc.
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) has secured 23.2 billion KRW in educational expense subsidies this year for improving the environment of educational facilities such as kindergartens and schools.
This is the largest amount among the 25 autonomous districts of Seoul.
The educational expenses include ▲5.7 billion KRW for school environment improvement ▲5.5 billion KRW for academic achievement and character education support ▲8.8 billion KRW for expanding free meals in elementary, middle, and high schools (excluding first-year high school students) and special schools ▲300 million KRW for supporting air purifiers in schools ▲500 million KRW for operating innovative education districts ▲2.4 billion KRW for educational welfare projects and kindergarten support, totaling 11 projects across 6 sectors, which is an increase of 1.5 billion KRW compared to the previous year.
In particular, the district is focusing on nurturing creative future talents in preparation for the 4th Industrial Revolution era by investing 850 million KRW to gradually expand Makerspaces, creative activity spaces, targeting elementary, middle, and high schools.
Additionally, with the expanded implementation of the middle school free semester system, 230 million KRW will be newly provided for first-year middle school experiential activity expenses, and 1.4 billion KRW will be invested in supporting native English-speaking instructors and operating elementary English camps to revitalize public education.
