Apink's Agency "Severe Damage from Malicious Commenters... Announces Strong Countermeasures"
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Sung-yeol] Play M Entertainment (Play M), the agency of idol group Apink, plans to take legal action against malicious commenters.
On the 27th, Play M announced through its official SNS and fan cafe, "We will take legal action against malicious commenters who post personal attacks, sexual harassment, and false information about our artist Apink."
They added, "Recently, due to the malicious actions of certain commenters, not only the artist but also their family and acquaintances have suffered severe mental distress. We have collected evidence through ongoing monitoring and requested legal review." They also stated, "We will continue to take strong measures, including criminal complaints."
Finally, the agency said, "We continuously monitor and legally review and respond to malicious online posts related to our artists. We will do our best to protect the rights and interests of our artists going forward."
Previously, in August last year, Apink member Oh Ha-young expressed emotional distress by posting on her Instagram story, "I don't know what people are thinking when they leave malicious comments, but please stop now. Not just for me, but for everyone."
Also, in November last year, Apink member Son Na-eun filed a complaint against a middle-aged man who left malicious comments about her but later withdrew the complaint citing his mental illness.
