Lee Ju-yeol, Governor of the Bank of Korea, Orders Formation of 'New Coronavirus Task Force'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Eunbyeol] Lee Ju-yeol, Governor of the Bank of Korea, recently instructed the formation of a 'New Coronavirus Response Team' in relation to the rapidly spreading 'Novel Coronavirus Infection (Wuhan Pneumonia)'.
The Bank of Korea reported that Governor Lee held an executive meeting at 9 a.m. that day and directed the formation of a response team composed of the Deputy Governor (team leader), Deputy Governor for Policy, and heads of major departments.
The response team will operate a 24-hour monitoring system on international financial market trends in coordination with overseas offices. It will closely examine the development of the novel coronavirus, international financial market trends, and the impact on Korea's financial economy, while sharing relevant information with the government and cooperating closely.

The Bank of Korea stated, "Internally, we will take necessary measures such as establishing business continuity plans based on scenarios for various developments to respond to increased operational risks due to the spread of the novel coronavirus."
