Earlier, on the 6th, a petition titled "Please do not disband Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's investigation team on the three major allegations" was posted on the Blue House petition board. As of 3 p.m. on the 26th, 20 days after posting, the petition had received over 304,000 endorsements.
The petitioner stated, "Historically, the biggest problem with the prosecution has been that despite being a major institution under the separation of powers, it became a servant of power and a presidential lapdog," and criticized, "They purged political opponents by riding on the Blue House's retaliatory politics."
He added, "However, Prosecutor General Yoon conducted investigations without yielding to power," and "The prosecution has regained its rightful place and returned to normal, which the majority of the public has cheered and actively supported."
He continued, "If the investigation team on the three major corruptions is disbanded, it is highly likely that the public's anger will not just simmer but explode," and "There is a high possibility that they will be investigated later for abuse of power. I earnestly advise Minister Choo to heed the will of the people and not leave a lasting regret."
Earlier, on the 8th, the Ministry of Justice made a sudden personnel reshuffle involving 32 prosecutors at the chief prosecutor level, resulting in prosecutors who led investigations related to the Blue House, known as the 'Yoon Seok-yeol faction,' being reassigned.
In response to criticism that the personnel changes were made without prior consultation with the prosecution, Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae appeared at the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee plenary session on the 9th and rebutted, saying, "The Prosecutor General defied my orders."
Minister Choo said at the time, "I asked the Prosecutor General to provide his opinion on the personnel changes and had a phone call lasting over an hour requesting his input," and "On that day, I canceled all my schedules and waited for six hours, but he did not provide any."
