[Yang Nak-gyu's Defence video] New Year's Greetings from the Cheonghae Unit Arriving at the Hormuz Strait
[Asia Economy Reporter Yang Nak-gyu] The soldiers of the 31st Cheonghae Unit, Wang Geon Ship, deployed to the Strait of Hormuz, conveyed New Year's greetings and pledged to carry out their missions on the occasion of the Lunar New Year.
On the 25th, through the New Year's greeting video from the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Lieutenant Im Geun-young, leader of the Inspection and Search Team 1, said, "To my parents in Korea, Happy New Year and have a warm holiday," sending New Year's greetings to his family. Additionally, four members of the Cheonghae Unit also conveyed New Year's greetings to the public through the video. On this day, the Cheonghae Unit soldiers shared Lunar New Year greetings with their families via satellite phone, easing their homesickness.
The Ark Unit (16th), deployed to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), stated, "All soldiers have a strong pride and responsibility as representatives of the Republic of Korea and military diplomats," and added, "We will perfectly complete the dispatch mission entrusted by the nation."
The unit members also took time during their mission to hold a joint ancestral rite. The Ark Unit conducted joint training with the UAE, including helicopter rappelling and special strike operations.
The Dongmyeong Unit (23rd) in Lebanon formed the number "2020" on site and sent New Year's greetings. The Dongmyeong Unit conducted joint training with the Lebanese army and operated Taekwondo classes for locals. A Dongmyeong Unit member emphasized, "We have carried out flawless operations for 13 years so far," and added, "We will continue to carry out flawless and perfect missions in the future."
The Hanbit Unit (11th), deployed to the Republic of South Sudan, sent New Year's greetings together with locals and unit members wearing hanbok. A Hanbit Unit member said, "I hope all citizens and families have a joyful time," and added, "We will do our best for the reconstruction of South Sudan."
