View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun visited the Jungbu Police Station and Jungbu Fire Station in Seoul on the afternoon of the 23rd to inspect public safety and firefighting activities in preparation for the Lunar New Year holiday and to encourage police officers and firefighters, the Prime Minister's Office announced.
Prime Minister Chung visited the 112 Integrated Situation Room at Jungbu Police Station, received a briefing on the security situation from the chief of Jungbu Police Station, and then encouraged the police officers working on site via radio communication.
Prime Minister Chung emphasized, "Preventing crime is the best approach, but in case an unfortunate incident occurs, responding properly versus doing nothing and just passing time can make a significant difference in the outcome. Therefore, it is important to maintain a rapid response posture even during the Lunar New Year holiday."
He then visited the Criminal Division's integrated duty room and encouraged the officers by saying, "If you do well, society becomes peaceful," adding, "On behalf of the citizens, I express my gratitude to the police officers who work hard during the holiday and ask you to take good care of your health as well."
Afterwards, Prime Minister Chung visited Jungbu Fire Station, received a report on the comprehensive fire safety measures for the Lunar New Year holiday from the fire chief, and urged them to do their best in special alert duty so that the public can spend the holiday safely. He also stressed the importance of fire prevention and requested strengthening surveillance activities in fire-prone areas.
