Busan Port Authority Installs Intelligent CCTV at New Port
Automatic Alarm for Hazard Zone Access to Prevent Port Accidents in Advance
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Yoseop] Busan Port Authority (BPA President Nam Ki-chan) will install intelligent CCTV equipped with automatic tracking technology at the New Port and begin pilot operation from February.
This measure was promoted at the active request of the New Port terminal operators and cooperation of related organizations to prevent fall accidents of dockside workers (line handlers, lashing, inspection, etc.) and to preemptively block collision accidents of incoming and outgoing ships.
Terminal operators can monitor the berthing and unberthing status of ships 24 hours a day through office monitors, and an automatic alarm system is activated when dockside workers approach a danger zone (virtual boundary line). In addition, only authorized personnel can check the site in real time through their personal mobile phones, and the walkie-talkies (9 units) provided to terminal operators last year and the pilot's radio channel were also made compatible with this system to further enhance accident prevention effects.
