Daejeon Maison Galleria Hosts Art Popup Exhibition Featuring Prints and Engravings by Kim Hwan-ki
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Hanwha Galleria announced on the 23rd that it will hold a ‘Print Bakery’ pop-up store at ‘Maison Galleria’ until March 14.
The ‘Print Bakery’ pop-up store event will be held in the exhibition space on the first floor of the VIP lounge, which opened last October in Doryong-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. Print Bakery, one of the art popularization projects operated by Seoul Auction, the largest art auction company in Korea, is characterized by allowing people to appreciate and collect artworks as easily as choosing bread at a bakery. It is an art popularization brand created with the intention that artworks should not be the exclusive possession of a few, but valuable things that more people can enjoy and appreciate.
To commemorate the opening of this pop-up store, Maison Galleria will newly present the work ‘Universe 5-Ⅳ-71 #200’ by artist Kim Whanki, who made history in Korean art by being sold for the highest price of 13.2 billion KRW at the Hong Kong Christie’s auction held last November, in pigment print form. Additionally, a limited edition digital print of this work will also be produced, giving it high collectible value.
The pop-up store will also add special value by introducing a lineup of various domestic and international artists, including Israeli artist David Gerstein, who is globally loved for his unique artistic world, and Kim Byung-joo, the creator of the installation work at Incheon Airport Terminal 2.

A Galleria official said, “Although Maison Galleria in Daejeon is a VIP-only space, the first-floor exhibition space, the basement first-floor furniture showroom (Via In Kino), and the caf? are spaces that general customers can also use,” adding, “We expect it to be an unusual pop-up store where visitors can experience new lifestyle trends and cultural issues.”
