School Uniform Jackets for 7,000 Won... Yangcheon-gu Operates 'School Uniform Exchange Market'
Yangcheon-gu Accepts School Uniforms and Student Supplies Until February 17... Reducing Household Financial Burden... Sales Proceeds to Be Donated as Scholarships for Low-Income Students
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) is holding a 'School Uniform and Student Supplies Exchange Market' in celebration of graduation and the new semester, and will accept items until February 17.
The 'School Uniform and Student Supplies Exchange Market' event is organized by the Yangcheon Green Store Association and sponsored by Yangcheon-gu. Since 2006, it has been held annually to reduce the financial burden on parents caused by the high cost of purchasing school uniforms each new semester and to promote resource conservation.
Last year, over 1,700 students and parents participated in the event, with a total of 2,500 items exchanged and sold. All proceeds from the market sales (7 million won) were donated as scholarships of 200,000 won each to 35 low-income students in the area.
School uniform and student supplies can be submitted until February 17 at Green Store No. 1 (☏2647-6670), Yangcheon-gu Office Cleaning Administration Division (☏2620-3420), or at each neighborhood community center.
Items can also be accepted on the day of the event at the venue. Donors will receive exchange vouchers on the day of the event, which can be used like cash when purchasing school uniforms.
The 'School Uniform and Student Supplies Exchange Market' will be held from February 21 to 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Yangcheon Hall on the 3rd floor of Yangcheon-gu Office.
School uniform jackets are available at around 7,000 won, and shirts and other items range from 3,000 to 5,000 won, allowing purchases at affordable prices.
A Yangcheon-gu official said, “The School Uniform and Student Supplies Exchange Market reduces the financial burden on households preparing for the new semester, protects the environment by recycling resources, and helps low-income students with the proceeds. It is a meaningful event that shares triple benefits and more, so we hope for the active interest and participation of residents.”
