Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education and Korean Neuropsychiatric Association, Medical Support for Whistleblowers and Corruption Reporters
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will strengthen protection measures for whistleblowers and corruption reporters by signing a business agreement with the Korean Neuropsychiatric Association (Chairman Park Yong-cheon) on the 22nd to provide medical support for whistleblowers.
The Seoul Office of Education currently provides medical support by paying relief funds retrospectively to whistleblowers and corruption reporters who require physical and mental treatment, in accordance with the 'Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Ordinance on Support and Protection for Whistleblowers.' However, many whistleblowers who need psychiatric counseling and treatment have not been able to fully utilize the relief fund payment system or have missed the appropriate treatment timing due to the retrospective relief fund claim and payment method.
Accordingly, the Office of Education and the Korean Neuropsychiatric Association will sign a business agreement to expand protection measures for whistleblowers by strengthening medical support for whistleblowers and corruption reporters, and will cooperate and support each other in policy and system improvements for whistleblower protection as well as external publicity.
Whistleblowers who have suffered or require psychiatric treatment after reporting whistleblowing or corruption to the Office of Education can request counseling and medical support at the Seoul Office of Education Whistleblower Center to receive assistance.
