Provisional Agreement Reached for Reinstatement of 20 Laid-off Non-regular Workers at Korea GM
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Some workers who were laid off due to the closure of the Gunsan plant and other impacts, belonging to subcontractors of Korea GM, will be reinstated.
According to the industry on the 21st, the presidents of Korea GM subcontractors and the irregular workers' union have tentatively agreed to reinstate 20 out of 46 laid-off irregular workers. These workers were laid off due to the closure of Korea GM's Gunsan plant in 2018 and the reduction of work shifts at the Bupyeong plant.
They are scheduled to return to work at the end of this month and will be responsible for tasks such as painting at Korea GM Bupyeong Plant 1.

Previously, laid-off irregular workers of Korea GM had installed a steel tower in front of the main gate of Korea GM headquarters in Bupyeong, Incheon, in August last year and conducted a high-altitude protest demanding the reinstatement of all laid-off workers.
