Enjoy Seol and Daeboreum Cultural Events Across Gwangju
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 21st that during the Lunar New Year holiday period (January 24th to 27th) and the Daeboreum event week (February 7th to 9th), 22 cultural events will be held by institutions, autonomous districts, and villages.
First, the National Asian Culture Center Children's Culture Center will hold seasonal events and Asian traditional game experiences (some paid) from the 24th to the 27th.
During the same period, the National Gwangju Museum will host the ‘2020 Lunar New Year Our Culture Festival,’ where visitors can experience traditional games and Samulnori.
At the Gwangju Traditional Culture Center on the 26th, various activities, crafts, and performances will be prepared for visitors.
For activities, folk games such as Yutnori and Neolttwigi will be available; for crafts, various hands-on events such as making Sehwa sharing cards and lucky scented pouches will be offered. For performances, various traditional art shows will be presented.
The Jeongwol Daeboreum celebration events are also richly prepared.
In Dong-gu Jisan-dong, Seo-gu Deokheung Village, Sinam Village, Buk-gu Munheung-dong, Samgak-dong, Yongbong-dong, Pyeongchon Village, Chunghyo Village, Yongjeon Village, and Gwangsan-gu Samdo-dong, Unnam-dong, Ssangam-dong, village festivals and folk events will be held to pray for the village’s harmony, peace, and safety throughout the year.
Especially, from February 7th to 9th, the ‘38th Gossaum Nori Festival’ will be held at Chilseok Gossaum Nori Theme Park in Nam-gu, and on the 8th, the ‘2020 Mudeung Pungnyu Jeon Jeongwol Daeboreum Festival’ will take place at the Traditional Culture Center.
In addition, the Gwangju Gugak Regular Performances held five times weekly at the Performance Maru will also present special programs.
The Municipal Folk Museum will not hold seasonal cultural events this year due to renovation and the construction of a historical cultural space, which has been underway since 2017.
