22-Month-Old Baby Found Dead While Parents Were Away from Home
Found Trapped Beside Bed Mattress
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suwan] A 22-month-old child who was sleeping alone while their parents, in their 20s, were away from home, died in an accident.
According to the Gwangju Seobu Police Station on the 21st, a report was received that a 22-month-old boy, A, was found dead at an apartment in Seo-gu, Gwangju, at around 7:50 a.m. on the 19th.
It was reported that boy A was trapped between the mattress and the bed frame.
The mother, B (23), is known to have gone out around 11 p.m. on the 18th after putting boy A to sleep. The father, C (27), reportedly left four hours earlier than B and had not returned home.
In the police investigation, the parents of boy A stated, "We put the child to sleep late at night and when we came home the next morning, boy A was dead."
The autopsy by the National Forensic Service confirmed that there were no signs of physical abuse on boy A's body.

The police are investigating whether to apply violations of the Child Abuse Prevention Act against boy A's parents and others.
