Gwangju Buk-gu, Recruitment of Beneficiaries for Special Youth Support Project
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Moon In) announced on the 20th that it is recruiting candidates for the ‘2020 Youth Special Support Project,’ which provides living expenses or tuition support to youths facing social and economic difficulties, until the 14th of next month.
The ‘Youth Special Support Project’ is a program that discovers youths in blind spots who are in crisis situations but do not receive support from other systems or laws, and provides customized services to help them grow into healthy members of society.
The eligible candidates are youths aged 9 to 18 years old who fall under the categories of ▲ youths needing support to prevent delinquency and deviation ▲ out-of-school youths ▲ youths without guardians or those who do not receive actual protection from guardians.
The support includes financial aid or equivalent goods or services in eight areas: living, health, academics, independence, counseling, legal, activities, and others, ranging from up to 100,000 KRW per month to up to 3.5 million KRW per year.
The selection criteria are households with median income at or below 72% (65% or below for living and health support) according to this year’s National Health Insurance premium self-payment standard. The candidates will be finalized through deliberation by the Youth Integrated Support System Operation Committee in March, and the support period is principally within one year, with the possibility of one extension within the one-year range if necessary.
Youths or guardians wishing to apply can visit their local administrative welfare center to submit the application form, National Health Insurance premium payment confirmation, and other required documents. For further details, inquiries can be made to the Education Support Division of Buk-gu Office.
